Making the U-Turn—Challenge and Plan
Summary
This chapter talks about the need to make the changes that actually bring new levels of influence and respect. If you are willing to accept the challenge of retooling your gears, practicing and implementing them into your life, then you will experience a deeper level of fulfillment that is rarely talked about in most leadership books or conversations. This is called applied leadership learning. The chapter provides an exercise that will help individuals create the makings of a leadership plan. It then discusses the significance of the 5 Gears, which is transferable anywhere, to any culture. Implementing the gears is about both lifestyle and work and it improves both. The chapter finally highlights that to help people understand their gear order and transition can be a life-changing process for everyone, but you must be intentional about living it out first.
