Abstract

In recent decades, participatory art practices have bloomed. These practices are often site specific and experimental. This interest in particular social contexts has driven artistic practice toward anthropology. Conversely, anthropologists have engaged with these practices to question the limitations of their methods and experiment with their own forms of work. This entry will explore the relationship between art and anthropology through the question of participation.
