Developmental defects of enamel
Abstract
Developmental defects of enamel (DDEs) provide unique insights into the early lives of individuals and human groups. Because enamel develops sequentially, one can read a chronological record of physiological perturbation (stress) by the location of DDEs. Enamel defects have emerged as a common tool for reconstructing past lives as well as gaining insights into living individuals and primates' life histories.
