Abstract

According to the National Science Board, the most recent occupational projections from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predict that the employment in science and engineering occupations will increase about three times faster than the overall growth rate for all occupations.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupation Outlook Handbook 2004–2005 presents that, by 2012, the future job growth will be in (1) health care and social assistance (increase by 32.4%) and (2) biomedical, biotechnology, and bioengineering (increase by 21–35%). Thus, promising career and job opportunities exist for biomedical engineers.
