Indymedia (The Independent Media Center)
Abstract
Indymedia, short for Independent Media Center (IMC), is a global network of independent media organizations offering grassroots news coverage on political and social issues. Its website, indymedia.org, has been operating since 1999 as an “open publishing” platform, enabling anyone with internet access to upload text and digital files. Indymedia reached its peak in the mid-2000s, but the activity of the network progressively declined in the years that followed.
