Abstract

Survival analysis is the study of the distribution of event times (death, relapse, and completion of an experimental task). A distinguishing feature of survival or time to event data is the presence of censoring, that is, all that is known sometimes is that an event occurred later than a given point in time. This article provides a brief description of the classical methods for nonparametric, semiparametric, and fully parametric analysis of survival times.
