Abstract

The strain rate (ε) peaks in ε–temperature curves and/or the minimum values of the shear viscosity accompanied by the glass transition and crystallization processes have been observed using strain rate measurements under continuous heating conditions. The dependence of the strain rate peaks and/or minimum values of the shear viscosity on heating rate and pre-annealing treatment has been investigated. The viscous flow behaviour of the a-PdCuSi alloy may be related to the modulus decrease during the phase transition.
